Solitaire Fortune iOS
Solitaire Fortune iOS is a mobile classical Solitaire Game with a Fortuneteller Theme. The crystal ball in the game works as an enlargement glass and shows rewarding emojies for good in game moves. You can play one-card-draw or three-cards-draw.
The Game is a reduced version of Solitaire Fortune. It has no sound effects and no crystal ball effects. If you have another device than an iOS operated one I recommend to play the full version on this page: https://teamcarrot.itch.io/solitaire
I foresee your future is full of fun!
Why another Solitaire Game?
I found that the existing games for mobile phone have the problem that the screen is so small that either the cards are very simplified (and ugly) or the letters are so small that they are difficult to read and touch. Then I had this idea with an enlargement glass. I made a quick test to look if I would manage and when it worked I just looked where it would take me to and that was a full game in the end.
Rules
Solitaire is played using a standard deck of 52 cards, excluding Jokers.
After shuffling, seven columns of cards are arranged from left to right in a fanned-out formation. Each successive column contains one more card than the previous one. The first column on the far left has a single face-up card, the second has two cards (with only the top one face up), and this pattern continues. The topmost card of each column is always face-up.
The remaining undealt cards form the stockpile, which is placed face-down in the upper left corner.
In the upper right, four foundation piles must be built in ascending order, starting with Aces and ending with Kings, grouped by suit. The tableau columns can be built in descending order, alternating between red and black cards. Any face-up sequence of cards, or an entire pile, can be moved together to another tableau column as long as it follows this descending-alternating rule. Any empty tableau space can be filled with a King or a sequence starting with a King. The objective is to move all cards to the foundation piles, completing four suit-specific stacks from Ace to King.
There are different methods for dealing cards from the stockpile to the waste pile:
- Drawing three cards at a time, with unlimited cycles through the deck.
- Drawing one card at a time, also with unlimited cycles.
If no valid moves remain, the game is unwinnable and considered lost.
Probability of Winning
The exact probability of winning a game of Klondike Solitaire (Solitaire Fortune is in fact a variant of Klondike Solitaire) with optimal play remains unknown, and the inability to determine it has been described as a challenge in applied probability. However, advancements in AI may soon provide a precise answer.
For the most common variation (drawing three cards at a time with unlimited passes), multiple studies have been conducted. An AI using Monte Carlo tree search strategies was able to win up to 35% of randomly dealt games. Another algorithm achieved a 52% success rate when drawing one card at a time and 18% when drawing three at a time. These figures represent a lower estimate of the true winnability rate. One experiment with a skilled human player recorded 189 wins in 442 games, achieving a success rate of 43%.
Autoplay
Autoplay means that any open card which can be moved to a foundation pile also is automatically moved there by the computer. You switch this option on or off with the symbol on the top right on the game screen or in the settings.
Undo move
Though it does not belong to the original set of rules most Solitaire compter games offer the possibility to undo the very last move. So does Solitaire Fortune. You find the button on the top left on the game screen.
